01/21/2024:
The new firmware version S007 is now available for the TwiSTEr. A lot of interesting things have happened in this firmware version:
The installation of the additional 33pF capacitor (blue) on the mainboard is no longer absolutely necessary with the S007 firmware, but only the 2 cables for ROMSELECT and INT viewtopic.php?t=96.
The blitter from the 1040 STE is now available when using the PPERA drivers.
The blitter can also be used for data transfer at the IDE interface with the HDDRIVER from U. Seimet. However, this is not recommended because: the transfer rate is only increased in processor mode 68000 with 8 MHz. In all other modes the blitter is more of a real brake block!
The new firmware S007 offers significantly more compatibility for demos and games - especially when operating the 68000 at 8 MHz. But also in all other processor modes. Games that allow a higher clocked 68000 or even a 68020 now run significantly more stable (and smoother). Special STE demos are now running, also with Overscan and Highcolor.
The list of devices that can now be operated on the ACSI port has also increased significantly. In addition to the previous function of a Gigafile, an ICD adapter, an H&N adapter, the Alia Ompti adapter (former c't project), the Megafile 30/60 or the SH201/SH205, the Satan disk now also runs Ultra Satan disk, all variants of ACSI2SD and many more adapters.
If the Twister is used with S007, a "bad DMA" chip no longer needs to be replaced. This applies to all four processor modes. It is no longer necessary to install capacitors or resistor arrays on the DMA chip. Both chips (C398739-001A and C025913-38) can be used directly. A DMA changer is also not necessary. Replacing the 68000 with a C-MOS type is no longer necessary. It doesn't matter which processor type (N-MOS or C-MOS) you use.
Access to a connected cartridge module now runs smoothly in all four processor modes. The SideCarT, which is quite new on the market, now also runs perfectly.
